The breakthrough came when I discovered makeup spatulas. Using a basic one for the first time gave me a glimpse of hope—was this finally it? That curiosity led me to dive deeper, researching Korean makeup communities and niche threads on Reddit to see if something even better existed.

I eventually discovered art spatulas—a secret known only to a small circle of die-hard beauty enthusiasts—and had my 'Eureka' moment. The sheer thinness of the application these tools achievedBeauty routines are built on repetition. The same tools, the same habits, the same quiet moments every single morning. Yet, these everyday rituals often receive the least attention. A puff is just a puff; a spatula is just a spatula. At least, that’s what we used to think.

But the closer we looked, the more questions arose. Why are tools we interact with thousands of times throughout our lives treated as temporary or disposable? RE LUMI was built around these questions. We could have launched much faster. Like many, we had immediate access to ready-made designs, existing catalog products, and lower-cost manufacturing options. But that path did not interest us. We weren't looking for the fastest way to market; we were seeking the most refined version we could possibly create.

This meant testing, refining, and testing again. We spent nearly a year perfecting dimensions most people might never explicitly notice—the precise angle, the weighted balance, the flawless finish. Prototype after prototype, revision after revision. We didn't do this because these details are easy to market. We did it because they dictate the final skin expression when you use something every day.
